Connect ChatGPT

Use this guide to add Connect to ChatGPT on the web. ChatGPT’s app controls and plan availability can change, so use the current OpenAI instructions if a setting is named differently in your account.

  • Sign in to Connect and open the workspace that should be available to ChatGPT.
  • In Connect, open Authorized apps, select Add an AI app, and choose ChatGPT.
  • Keep the MCP URL shown by Connect available to copy into ChatGPT.
  1. Open ChatGPT on the web.
  2. If you use a ChatGPT workspace, ask an owner or administrator to enable custom apps when your account requires it.
  3. In ChatGPT, open Settings → Apps → Advanced settings and turn on Developer mode when that option is available.
  4. Return to Apps, select Create app, and paste the MCP URL from the Connect dialog.
  5. Review the tools ChatGPT finds, then save or publish the app when ChatGPT asks you to.
  6. Complete the Connect sign-in and choose the workspace ChatGPT should use.

ChatGPT may show different options for read-only access and actions that can change data. Review the available actions and approve each Connect sign-in or accounting change when prompted.

Start a chat, open the app picker, and select your Connect app. Ask a question about the companies in the workspace you chose.

If Developer mode, Create app, or the app picker is not available, your ChatGPT plan or workspace permissions may not include custom apps yet. Ask your ChatGPT administrator or check OpenAI’s current instructions for developer mode and apps.
